For this perspective project I learned about drawing in one and two point perspective. I learned how to use vanishing points and make buildings and shapes look like they are closer or further away. Perspective also can make the shapes look 3D by having lines go to a vanishing point. This was a new technique I learned that I will probably use in the future if I want to make something appear 3D. This project helped change my thought process for future art work by learning these new techniques.
This artwork shows some of my personal interests as a person. I enjoy watching and playing soccer, so a world cup themed city came pretty naturally to me. The flags I used were countries that I like to watch or had players that I enjoy watching, like the United States and Brazil. I also would like to visit Brazil someday, and the fact that the world cup recently was in Brazil made it the perfect background for my soccer city. I expressed my interests through my art, which is something I think every artist should do.
Some of my classmates inspired me while I was working on this project. I had finished with the main part of the city but I thought that I should add something to it. Someone then said that I could "make it rain soccer balls" which gave me the idea to add something to the piece. I added in soccer balls in the sky to be either clouds or rain, depending on what you imagine when you look at it. My classmates helped me improve my artwork and made it more unique.
