1. Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. Were the choices you made regarding subject, design and technique beneficial to enhancing this project. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success? Explain.
My black and white project was what I felt was my most successful piece. The idea was to choose either a music or culture genre and make an art piece using only black and white colors. I chose jazz music and made drums with alternating patterns and a striped background. We made thumbnail sketches with two main themes, then a final drawing for each theme, and then we cut the black paper with an x-acto knife and glued it to white paper with our one final design. I felt that I did really well with designing the piece and I executed my plan well. Cutting was the most difficult part, but I still enjoyed doing it and it came out how I wanted it to. I don't think I needed that much instruction for this project, because it was a simple idea yet it allowed alot of creativity. I used space and color well in this piece to make it flow nicely.

2. Discuss one project where you felt you were the least successful. Explain why you felt this way. What would you do differently to change this piece? Explain.
I think the project i was not very successful in was the cartoon skeleton. I drew a skeleton of Gru from the movie series Despicable Me. When I drew the bones on his body I messed up the direction they should be in, especially the ribs and spine. The ribs should have been slanted so I could show some of the spine on his back. It was also hard to get the skull and neck to look good because his head is unusually large shape yet the rest of his bones are either normal or small. I have to say that his natural body shape didn't help me much, and I feel that overall this piece was the least successful of the projects I've completed. I also didn't show alot of value with shading the limbs and skull. Most of the piece was white with a little bit of value here and there, but not alot of cohesive value was shown.

3. Look at your body of work over the semester and choose 2 pieces that show your growth as an artist. Discuss each piece and how you grew in the following areas: application of materials, techniques and skills, artistic vision, use of the principles and elements, creativity, intuition and subject matter.
My printmaking and oil pastel projects show my growth as an artist. For the printmaking project I used a ram as inspiration for my piece and I put it in a corner to be more creative. I drew hair and horn details and used new tools to form the print of the final. Learning how to use the paint and properly print on paper was a new skill I learned while doing this project. I think that if we had done this earlier in the year, it would've been bad quality, but because I learned new techniques it came out well. For the oil pastel project I learned alot of technique with shading with color on 3-D shapes. This was a cool skill to learn and it really helped me improve with showing value. I had used oil pastels before, but not in that way to add value and color to shapes to make them look realistic. Both of these projects taught me about new ideas and strategies for future artwork.

4. Choose a piece or artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a personal connection to. Please explain your choice. Include photos and explain thoroughly.
My perspective city project really reflected me as an artist and my personality. We were supposed to make a themed city about something, and I chose soccer. Soccer is my favorite sport and I've been playing it for a while, so I enjoyed making different parts of the soccer world and putting it in one piece. I had the world cup trophy as the center building of my piece, because it's also the center of the soccer world. I drew different countries flags on one building and Germany and the United States their own building. I also had Christ the Redeemer in the background because the world cup was in Brazil most recently and that helped signify the piece being in Rio, yet it is a soccer fantasy. I also had soccer ball clouds that were used in different soccer tournaments and leagues. This piece showed my hobby and one of my favorite things, showing something I enjoy in an artistic way.

5. What medium was your favorite to work with? Explain.
I liked working on my printmaking project because it involved using multiple mediums. It used drawing, cutting and painting, which showed how the piece came along. Drawing is my favorite thing in art, so I liked making sketches and a final drawing for this project. It was fun to cut the linoleum to form the lines of our print. It was something I hadn't done before and I think I was pretty good at it. The printing was probably the toughest part but it was fun rolling the paint on it and pressing it on the paper. There were a lot of mediums used in this project which is why I enjoyed so much. I did well with the mediums and I think that helped make this project successful.
