This is a contour drawing of my shoe in pen. I had to draw my shoe with as much detail as I could lifting the pen off the paper as little as possible. I started with the bottom of the shoe which was one of the more difficult parts with the designs on the side. The laces took the longest though because there were more lines and details on those. The rest of the shoe wasn't that difficult to draw, but I could have added more details by lifting the pen with some of the design. Overall I felt I did really well drawing the shoe.
Overall my experience with oil pastels was good. I learned how to combine colors well and used that skill to make 3D shapes. Using the color combinations I was able to create value and a light source coming from the left. Value was important on the shapes to create the 3 dimensional feel to it. Overlapping also helped create value by making objects seem closer because they are front of another object. Adding a shadow on the surface and shapes helped show the light source more clearly.
